Why, sir? Why?

I know now that as I write this I will most likely be years too late to do anything about it. I know now that as I write this it’s already too late. I watch it daily; the death of The American Dream. I hold on against hope, though. I can’t lie about how I saw a possible turn around when Americans allowed the Electoral College to elect the first Black man to our highest office. I hope the future will be different from before him and I guess we’ll see soon enough. As Malcom once said; “Time will tell.” Time it seems tells a lot in the end. I can look back at four years ago when I was knee deep in a relationship that was all sort of wrong with a kid cooking in her over, a corporate job on lock, a gut that clocked in as just under fat and just past healthy and feel a sense of dread that I was DOA from there on out. Time, it would seem, has proven all that to be not the case. I am here now. I am married, sure, but it’s to a woman I love and who loves me for me. As a man I can’t ask for more from her. I have dirt under my nails and I won’t apologize for it. She can handle that and that’s why it works.

To the matter, if there is one; the classic saying of “stay to the truth at the root” is right in every sense. I have been done on all fronts in my life and no matter what happens the truth holds the most water. I am writing this to stretch the muscles and flash some skin. I’m proving to myself I still got It. The Great Wave is still riding high here and I hope as you read this, TV Land, that you see the that the person tending the light at the end of this long tunnel isn’t some supreme being but just another freak like you who’s hoping you’d be there to tend a light of your own.
